The cross section of the Romanian situation was presented by the sociologist Dénes Kiss from Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), underlying especially the situation of the small settlements and that of the roma (gypsy) communities which very often seems to be without any perspective. Those who also commented from among the audience, contributed by their opinion from political, sociological and church-sociological point of view in understanding the problem more nuanced and more detailed. After that the attendants of the conference could enjoy the hospitality of the Reformed Chruch of Szatmárnémeti-Kültelek.

Youth camp

In this year the Study House of the Roman Catholic Church of Gyergyószentmiklós (Gheorgheni) offered place for those youngsters who attended the meeting in 4-8 August organized by our Foundation and the youth department of SGP. The 26 attendants (among them 5 Dutch people) arrived from 7 different Reformed congregations. The main idea or subject of the camp was: The charity service role of the Church. The regional leader of the Organization Caritas Catolica presented the most important fields of their activity, especially highlighting the care for the aged and the different programs they run for large families. When visiting the elderly home in Gyergyószentmiklós (Gheorgheni) which is sustained by them we had the opportunity to see the use of their social activity. In Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfantu Gheorghe), where Makkai Péter, reformed pastor outlined the activity of the new founded social center, signalized that there are good attempts also within the Hungarian Reformed Church in Romania by which he wants to ask and also to fulfill a place and a task in the Romania social network. Beside the fixed program, the free programs, the evening discussions and the excursions made in the neighborhood highly contributed to the building and strengthening of the sense of community. This last one was also the purpose of the trip made by bus, during which by the help of our skilled guide we could come to know the beauty and the historical renowns of the Basin of Gyergyó.
